Sacramento, CA

My work, QBP, sent me to Sacramento for the weekend to check out the handmade bike show (NAHBS). My co-workers and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, which I wouldn't recommend...but the city itself is pretty great, partially due to its plethora of Karaoke dive bars. We literally stumbled upon the Distillery, located on a dark and random side street and had to see what was inside. I forgot to take pictures of the inside, but I can best describe it as a greasy supper club with low ceilings and an inebriated crowd of regulars that couldn't keep their clothes on very well. Needless to say, we loved it.

After a night of belting karaoke in a greasy dive, you definitely need a greasy breakfast. I jumped on yelp and found a place that was walkable in Midtown. Headhunters video lounge and cafe is a bright, open place with a ton of flatscreen tvs playing dragon cartoons. WTF? I guess this is why it's called a video lounge? Anyway, they have a great patio, too....

These are not my friends, just some randoms that were very concerned that I was taking a picture of the patio...

Veggie omelet. Pretty great, and not actually that greasy. Bacon was perfect and you can tell the potatoes were freshly cut and fried. The only bummer is their espresso machine was broken.

Then we walked the show for a bit and retired on a grass knoll just a block from the convention center with a 12-pk of PBR. We're such emo bike nerds.

Katie and Dirty...

Adam, deep in thought
...

Okay, so moving on to Sunday brunch. I received a text from Adam at 8:30am jarring me awake to realize that my head was pounding from the previous night's festivities. We work hard and play hard. "Breakfast at Capitol Garage. Time to rally!" Okay, fine. It's hard to keep me away from eggs in the morning.

I arrived late, but was excited to enter and see this super cool tikki/voodoo garage. Warm and bright and colorful!

Daily specials...

Here's Katie's breakfast burrito...

Adam's vegan tofu sautee...

Aaron's brisket hash. Yow! I wish I would have gotten this...

Classic benny for me with basil and tomato. Perfect eggs.

They bring you a plate of fresh fruit right away. This is a blood orange. So Dexter...

Thank you, Sacramento, for your lovely brunch and lovely weather!
